In this initial phase, more than 30 VR FOX units are expected to be delivered by early 2027. The agreement also marks the beginning of full-scale production of these military SUVs on Latvian soil, strengthening supply chain security and boosting the national defense industry.
The total value of the contract has not yet been disclosed.
Origins of the VR FOX Project
Development of the VR FOX began after vehicle testing in February of this year. According to Ali Jansons, owner of VR Cars and the concept’s creator, the idea came after analyzing the market and identifying design limitations in existing models.
With experience in the development and repair of race cars, the VR Cars team used that knowledge as the foundation for designing the first military prototype of the VR FOX, combining performance, durability, and mobility suited for tactical operations.
The initiative represents an important step toward the technological and operational independence of the Latvian Armed Forces.
